Governor P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão extended greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The Governor said Chavath was a festival of devotion, joy and togetherness that brought families together and helped preserve Goa’s cultural heritage. He highlighted the traditional Matoli and urged people to celebrate in an environmentally responsible manner while protecting the state’s natural and ecological heritage.
Chief Minister Sawant described Ganesh Chaturthi as an integral part of Goan culture and urged people to use eco-friendly idols made of natural clay instead of Plaster of Paris. He also appealed to Goans to support local traders by buying locally made decorations, sweets and puja materials.
Cardinal Ferrão, along with Auxiliary Bishop Simião Fernandes and the Catholic faithful, extended greetings to the Hindu community. He called for greater efforts to protect human dignity, Goa’s natural heritage and communal harmony.
