Illegal hill cutting at Gogol

Acting on the complaint lodged by the SGPDA Planning Assistant on February 2, the Margao Town police have registered an offence under Section 17-A of the Town and Country Planning Act against unidentified persons for resorting to illegal hill cutting without the permission of authorities concerned at Gogol-Margao for the incident reported to have occurred prior to January 5.

Further investigations are in progress.

BICHOLIMAn attempt to extinguish fire in an open space at Bhandarwada-Mayem proved fatal for a 70-year-old man from Bhandarwada, after he was charred to death. Police along with the fire personnel rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control, but could not avoid the tragedy, as the incident had occurred deep in the forest.
