PORVORIM
A group of unemployed D Ed
youth staged an agitation in
front of the Directorate of Education
in Porvorim on Monday
demanding employment.
A delegation of five youth
called on the Director of Education
Gajanan Bhat and told
him that they were unemployed
for the last seven years
and complained that the government
had unfairly given
an assurance to para teachers
that they would be absorbed
in government services.
In his reply, Bhat admitted
that the State government had
not made any recruitment of
primary teachers since 2011.
“In fact, it was decided
by the government to conduct
recruitments in January
2018, but it could not be done
on account of technical reasons.
However in a month or
two, advertisements in this
respect will be issued
shortly and teachers will be
recruited.”
“In regard to para teachers,
those teachers have been
recruited by State Council of
Educational Research and
Training (SCERT) and not Directorate
of Education and
the issue is looked after by
SCERT,” clarified Bhat.
The delegation requested
Bhat to ensure that whenever
the process of recruitment of
D Ed teachers begins, the 150
unemployed D Ed youth who
are attached to their union be
given priority.
Bhat replied that Chief Minister
Manohar Parrikar would
return to Goa soon and said
they should place their demands
before the chief minister.
“The decision of the chief
minister will be final,” said
Bhat.
