Arun Gandhi, who was killed in the road mishap at Karmalghat on Monday, had arrived on a trip to Goa to celebrate his outstanding results of Masters in Finance Management.
According to Canacona police, Gandhi’s family arrived in Goa and met the Canacona police who are investigating the motor vehicle accident involving a Rent-a-Cab car and a Tanker (Bharat Petroleum) at a treacherous and dangerous curve on Karmalghat on Monday evening.
Gandhi (23) had been bright in studies and had reportedly topped with 98.8% in Finance Management, MFM (Masters in Finance Management) and as part of the celebrations, had joined friends to holiday briefly in Goa.
According to Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas, the post-mortem was completed on Tuesday and the body was handed over to the family.
All four other injured persons are out of danger and have been discharged from the hospital to undergo further treatment in Mumbai.
It is learnt the family of the deceased airlifted the body of Arun to Mumbai late Tuesday evening, even as the four other injured car occupants also left for Mumbai.
Meanwhile, acting on a request from the parent of the deceased parent, policemen visited the accident site in search of the mobile phone of the deceased.
A three-member police team which reached Karmalghat was seen searching for the mobile of the deceased at the place where the ill-fated car was retrieved last night.
According to sources, the mobile phone had been ringing when calls were made till late Monday night, but it was switched off when calls were made on Tuesday morning.
