The Konkani Bhasha Mandal (KBM) has unanimously decided to decline the resignation of noted Konkani writer Datta Damodar Naik from primary membership of the Mandal.
The Working Committee met on Thursday and reached this decision out of deep respect for the monumental role Naik has played in nurturing the Konkani movement. “His dedication has been an integral part of our collective journey, and we feel his continued presence is vital to our cause, said KBM President Serafino Cota.
He added: “While the KBM feels that differences of opinion on various issues will always remain, we believe these differences of opinion represent the very essence of the Konkani movement and its democratic spirit. We have always thrived by debating diverse viewpoints, only to unite resolutely on matters of common concern. We strongly believe that these differences should not cause a valued veteran to distance himself from the struggle he helped build.”
Regarding Naik’s decision to withdraw his donation, Cota said he respects Naik’s choice entirely and have no further comment to offer. “Our focus remains solely on the path ahead, and we sincerely hope Naik will choose to continue his journey with the Konkani movement, stated Cota.
