PONDA
Locals from Murdi-Khandepar have objected to a proposed bhandara, after claiming that many houses in the area get flooded every year during the monsoons.
The issue was discussed by locals at a meeting in Maruti Mandir at Murdi in the presence of Water Resources Department (WRD) Chief Engineer Pramod Badami, Assistant Engineer Shailesh Naik, Joint Mamlatdar Janhavi Kalekar, Curti-Khandepar Sarpanch Sanjana Naik.
Alleging that the government has not made available necessary infrastructure facilities during emergencies, locals complained that the Water Resources Department has not fulfilled their long-pending demand for a protection wall in the area.
“We have been demanding a protection wall since the last five years which have fallen on deaf ears. If a bandhara is constructed here, more houses will go under water,” remarked a local, as others also voiced their opposition to the proposed bandhara.
They claimed that those houses which get flooded during monsoon every year have not received any compensation from the government.
