The Vasco police arrested a native of Kolkata and resident of New Vaddem late Friday evening, on charges of molesting and outraging modesty of 16-year-old girl.
The police stated that the complaint was lodged by the victim’s mother, who stated that the accused, who is staying in her tenanted house, had called the girl to his room and had sexually molested her.
The police added that the incident came to light when the victim narrated the incident to her mother, who rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.
Acting on the complaint, a police team rushed to the site and arrested the accused, who is staying with his wife and his daughter in the rented room. Police investigations are in progress.
