The Panaji police have arrested four mobile thieves of Karnataka origin and recovered 15 handsets, worth Rs 2.40 lakh.
Manjunath Jadhav, Mahesh Kale, Rohit Jadhav and Isha Bhoi found themselves in the police net when the Panaji police were investigating a complaint of phone theft belonging to one Kundan Saw of Uttar Pradesh. The tourist alleged that his phone was stolen from the Panaji bus stand on December 31, 2022.
Panaji police informed that the case investigation solved other mobile theft cases as the accused are also involved in similar offenses in their home state.
In yet another seizure of mobile phones, Mapusa Police on Tuesday arrested one person and confiscated six android mobile handsets worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
The accused Sadiq Abdul Hussain (29) a native of Uttar Pradesh but presently putting up in Mapusa has been apprehended.
Acting on very reliable information, Mapusa Police laid a trap and nabbed the accused at the Mapusa KTC bus-stand.
Six mobile phones were found in his possession at the time of arrest.
The accused has been arrested under Section 379 and 201 of the IPC.
Mapusa PI Paresh Naik along with other police personnel carried out the investigation under overall supervision of Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalve and SP North, Nidhin Valsan.
