Labourer stabbed over dispute at Amona

A labourer was allegedly stabbed following a dispute between two workers staying in adjoining rented rooms at Kalamwada-Amona, in Bicholim taluka.

Bicholim Police arrested the accused, who was remanded to three days’ police custody by the court. According to police, the complainant, Prem Shankar Ram (32), a native of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, was staying in a rented room owned by Uma Umesh Parab at Kalamwada, Amona.

The accused, Krishna Yadav (45), who was staying in the adjoining room, allegedly abused the complainant without provocation while under the influence of alcohol at around 10.15 pm on July 12. He also allegedly threatened to kill him.

Police said that while the complainant was taking a walk in the gallery after dinner, the accused allegedly went into his room, brought out a knife and stabbed him on his left shoulder. The victim suffered a bleeding injury and later lodged a complaint with Bicholim Police.

Based on the complaint, police registered an offence. The accused, Krishna Yogendra Yadav, was arrested on July 13 and produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), who remanded him to three days’ police custody.

Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rashmir Matonkar.
