PONDA
Heavy rains led to a landslide at Kerye-Khandepar, damaging a water pipeline in the area on Friday evening. This is the second such damage within a week, after two pipelines had ruptured due to a landslide in the same area.
PWD officials said the damage was minor and added work to repair the pipeline had started. “Water supply will be restored by late Friday night,” a PWD official said.
Meanwhile, incessant rains led to submerged fields at many places in Ponda taluka.
At Borim, a road passing through fields was flooded making it difficult for motorists to travel. The nullah from Sidhanath hill to Zuari river at Borim began to overflow and water entered the fields.
One rickshaw was damaged when a tree collapsed at Sapna park in Ponda, while a house at Talaulim was partially damaged when a tree got uprooted.
Power supply was disrupted in Chirputex-Curti when a tree fell on electricity wires.
