Stating that Goa should be investor friendly, Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo said no investors should face a situation of uncertainty where a government policy remains constantly in a flux.
Lobo also said that whenever government functions are held or ministers/chairmen arrive in the constituency then the local MLA from whichever party he or she is from, should be informed.
“Whatever is the rule of the land …whatever the plan says should be followed. If you suddenly say the plan is scrapped we are going to make new plans…How will investments come in the State,” Lobo said.
The Opposition Leader informed that he has discussed the on-going outline development plans (ODPs) with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who has given a positive indication.
TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane had recently suspended the ODPs of Calangute-Candolim, Arpora-Nagao and Parra citing gross irregularities by Michael Lobo who is the local MLA.
According to Lobo, it was not only about him but about businesses which are being operated in the State.
“Goa should be investor friendly. Investments which are coming to Goa should not face hurdles or roadblocks. There should not be anybody who will send investment back and bring hurdles or bring new rules or regulations…,” he said, indirectly hinting at the TCP minister.
He further said that businesses flourish in a stable environment and not when there is constant interference and policy flux.
“If rules keep changing then how will the tourism, pharma and IT industries grow in the State? How will new factories come in industrial estates,” Lobo argued.
“I have spoken to the CM about the matter. Now, it is up to him,” he said.
The Opposition Leader along with some Congress MLAs met the CM and requested him to direct his colleagues and officers to follow the protocol of informing the local MLA whenever a government function is held in the constituency.
“Whenever government functions are held or government officials come for inspection along with the minister and the chairman, the concerned MLA whether he is Independent, Congress, RG or AAP should be informed,” Lobo said.
“MLAs are elected by the people of the constituency and when a government function is held in the constituency, the concerned MLA has to be invited. It is the protocol,” he added.
