The State government has told the Bombay High Court at Goa that there are no dues pending from the organisers of Sunburn music or related event management companies.
Filing an affidavit before the Bombay High Court at Goa, Menino D'Souza, Director and ex-officio Additional Secretary (Tourism) (who is now promoted to Secretary, Rural Development) in his affidavit filed on 20/04/2022 has made a statement that “all Departments have received the total dues from the organisers of the music festivals which are the subject matter of this petition and no amount had to recover from the State or its agencies.”
Trajano D’Mello, who had filed a petition before the Bombay High Court at Goa seeking clearance of all dues by the organisers of Sunburn before the government can consider giving any permission to the organisers to conduct festivals afresh.
Adv representing D’Mello accepted the statement on behalf of the Goa government and submitted that in view of the statement in the sworn affidavit, the petition can be disposed of.
While disposing of an earlier petition the state government advocate general made a statement back in 2016 that permission to hold the music festival in the State of Goa will not be considered until they clear the amount demanded or at least furnish a bank guarantee.
The following year the High Court disposed of the petition after the Advocate General reiterated the statement that no application of the for permission or licence will be considered in the State of Goa in the year 2017, unless the due amount demanded is paid or a bank guarantee is furnished.
