“Once the Mhaisal dam is fully operational with new system, the water problem in Panchwadi and Shiroda will be resolved,” Shirodkar said during his recent visit to the dam to take stock of the work.
Taking cognizance of severe water shortage in Shiroda and Panchwadi, the government had constructed the 10 MLD water treatment plant at the Mhaisal dam. “Presently, 1.5 to 2 MLD water is supplied using the old system and once the project is fully functional, 10 MLD water will be supplied,” Shirodkar told The Goan.
According to Shirodkar, 80 per cent of the work is completed and the remaining 20 per cent will be completed soon. “I think we should be able to commission the project by August. This will help to resolve the water scarcity problem,” he said.
Shirodkar said he endeavours to provide continuous potable water to the people of Shiroda and Panchwadi. “We will take care that this water reaches to the hilly region in these areas,” he said.
