A 50-year-old woman Lalita Nagesh Siddhi was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a rented room at Madel-Chorao, on Sunday morning, with the police suspecting suicide.
According to Old Goa police, upon receipt of the information, they immediately rushed to the site and found the body of the woman lying on the floor with a cloth tied around her neck as well as on the ceiling of the room.
Further investigation revealed that the cloth had been cut. After conducting the panchanama, the police sent the body for post-mortem in GMC and registered the case as unnatural death.
Later, the police found that the woman’s husband Nagesh was missing, but, upon investigation, it came to be known that Nagesh had met with an accident at Ribandar on Saturday night and was undergoing treatment in GMC.
Apparently, Nagesh found her wife’s body hanging in the room after which he cut the cloth to lower down her body.
Later, when he ventured out to inform about the incident to the family members he met with an accident at Ribandar.
Old Goa PSI Manisha Pednekar is conducting further investigations in the case under the supervision of PI Dinesh Gadekar.
