Mandrem Sarpanch Amit Sawant and local panch Robert Fernandes conducted an inspection of debris dumped by a resort owner.
The resort owner had been accused of dumping debris in the river two months ago and the issue had been raised in the Mandrem Gram Sabha, with locals demanding action in the matter. Sarpanch Amit Sawant replied that he had requested the resort owner to remove the debris from the river.
Accordingly, the owner had removed the debris from river, but a local lodged a complaint stating that the debris had been thrown in his fields. Sawant and Fernandes visited the site to ascertain the complaint and conducted a panchanama.
Sawant said the party concerned has been asked to remove the debris.
