State Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho is expected to meet Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to take their plans ahead for developing bus stands as bus ports.
“I will meet the union minister regarding the electrical buses and developing bus stands as bus ports, which will be a collaboration of Central and State governments,” Godinho said, speaking to reporters after attending the Investment Promotion Board Meeting at Altinho on Tuesday.
These upcoming projects are estimated to the tune of Rs 650 crores approx. Gadkari, during his private visit to Goa in October 2022 promised to provide Goa with 250 electric buses under a central government scheme free of cost.
In his interaction with Godinho, he also assured to develop major bus stands in areas such as Panaji, Margao and Mapusa, where land is available, into modern bus ports entirely at the Centre’s cost.
