Senior MGP leader and former PWD minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday said his government will provide a cabinet of eight ministers if the party gets a clear majority in the assembly polls.

“If 22 of our alliance MLAs get elected, we will have only eight ministers and a chief minister in the cabinet for the first six months,” said Dhavlikar.

The former PWD minister was addressing a gathering after opening the MGP office in Mapusa.

MGP candidate for Mapusa Vinod Balu Phadke, Goa Suraksha Manch leader Nandan Sawant, Shiv Sena leader Kishore Rao and other MGP leaders from Mapusa were present on the occasion.

Speaking further, he said BJP was trying to falsely implicate Phadke in the cricket scam when it came to know that he would contest from Mapusa.

“If at all there was such a huge scam in the GCA, then the first person to face the music should have been the bank manager who is supposed to verify the signatures,” Dhavlikar said, blaming BJP for the political witch hunt against the opponents.

He said BJP was wary of the support the MGP-GSM-Sena alliance was getting across the State and had begun spreading false propaganda through the social media.

Taking on the deputy chief minister and local MLA Francis D'Souza, Dhavalikar said the only work of substance that was going on in Mapusa was sewerage work, which was initiated by him.

“The go-ahead for the sewerage work was given by me as PWD minister,” he said.

Giving a call to the youth to get involved in the task of nation-building, he said it was high time the youngsters came forward and took charge of the party in the State.

“MGP is the only party which has represented the Goa assembly right from day 1 when elections were held in Goa after liberation,” he said.

Censuring the BJP for its politics of bankruptcy, MGP's Mapusa candidate, Vinod Balu Phadke said BJP was giving tickets to corrupt politicians by importing them from other parties and in the same breath calling politicians of other parties corrupt by slapping false cases against them.

“Tainted politicians become clean after joining BJP, but politicians of opposition parties are corrupt by slapping false charges against them,” he said.

He said Mapusa has moved at least 20 years backwards and said it was time to bring change in the constituency.

MGP stalwart, Mahesh Rane, GSM's Nandan Sawant, Shiv Sena's Kishore Rao and other leaders like Manoj Walke, Armindo Braganza spoke.

Dhavlikar blames Mapusa MLA for bad roads

THE GOAN NETWORK

MAPUSA: Blaming the Mapusa MLA for the bad condition of roads in the town, senior MGP Sudin Dhavalikar said the local MLA has failed to get the roads repaired on time, putting residents into inconvenience for last four years.

He also blamed the chief minister, who is also the finance minister, for the failure to get the work on new bus-stand going in Mapusa.

“If the local MLA had make his presence felt now and then at the site and forced the agency concerned to repair the roads on top priority, people of Mapusa would not have suffered as they have for so many years,” Dhavalikar said.

He also said that due to lack of funds with the government, the work on the new bus-stand could not take off.

“The transport department could not make the payment to NGPDA because the finance minister failed to release money due to lack of funds,” he said.
