MP native loses leg

CANACONA

A 38-year-old Konkan railway passenger from Madhya Pradesh critically injured his leg in an unspecified accident at Konkan Railway Station (KRC), Loliem-Canacona.

According to reliable sources, Shaikh Afzal critically injured one of his legs in an accident on Monday.

Railway officials informed Canacona Police, who rushed to the site and shifted the injured to Community Health Centre (CHC) Canacona.

The passenger was later shifted to Hospicio in Margao and the case was handed over to the Railway Police as it took place in the jurisdiction of Railways, informed the source. The leg had to be amputed.

Margao Railways Police PI Santosh Dessai is further investigating into the case, added the sources.

Sources further informed that the accident was confirmed but details such as the manner of the accident and on which train the injured passenger was travelling in could not be substantiated.
