Mormugao MLA and Power Minister Milind Naik on Monday inaugurated the work to lay the water pipeline and asphalting of internal roads at Headland Sada in Vasco.
Naik inaugurated the works in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Vice Chairperson Shashikant S Parab (Ward 3), Councillors Bhavana Bhosle (Ward 2), Damodar Kaskar (Ward 4), PWD assistant engineer Bhende and others.
Speaking to media persons, Naik said the residents near government school at Headland Sada were facing severe water problem, as the area is at the extreme end. “With the laying of the parallel 250 mm water pipeline from water overhead tank at Sada up to the government school, the problem will be eased,” said Naik.
“Acting on the request of the aggrieved residents, I requested the water department to lay a separate pipeline from the overhead water tank up to the government school and to connect the household lines to the new pipeline for better water supply,” added Naik.
“I have completed water-related works costing about Rs 40 lakh and the present laying of the pipeline is estimated to cost Rs 20 lakh, which will be completed in next 24 months,” he said.
Naik said asphalting of internal roads was long due and is being taken up for betterment of the locals residing in the area.
Some locals told Naik that due to parking of vehicles on the road, it becomes very difficult to shift a sick patient to the hospital or a fire tender finds it difficult to enter the lanes during emergencies.
Naik responded by reminding the locals that stationary vehicles belong to their neighbours and friends and that, all people should understand the difficulty faced by others due to parking of vehicles.
“If everyone thinks responsibly and park their vehicles at alternative sites, then the problems could easily be solved without intervention of politicians,” said Naik.
