Nigerian held with drugs worth Rs 3.6 L

Mapusa Police arrested a 33-year-old Nigerian national on charges of possessing ganja worth Rs 3.60 lakh at Dangi Colony in Mapusa late Sunday night.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off that the accused, John Pal Rafel Onebuchi, would go to Gandhi Garden at Dangi Colony to supply ganja to a customer, the police laid a trap and arrested Onebuchi red-handed.
Police said the accused was found in possession of 6 kgs of ganja worth Rs 3.60 lakh in the international market. The police also confiscated a scooter (GA-01-D-0229), a mobile phone, 200 Naira (Nigerian currency) and a wallet with Rs 680.
Police added that it was revealed from the tickets that Onebuchi had come down to Goa from Chennai two days ago. He was staying at Hyderabad.
Police said the accused was produced before JMFC Mapusa and the court remanded him to four days police custody. PSI Elidio Fernandes is investigating the case.
PSI Vijay Chodankar, Elidio Fernandes, Constable Sushant Chopdekar, Earshad Vatangi, Rupesh Korgaokar, Fancky Vaz, Alvito D'Melo, Sandesh Sawant and Rama Matondkar took part in the raid.
