No major effect in Bardez

MAPUSA

While several places around the State were submerged in knee-deep water due to the heavy downpour, rains gods saved the blushes in Bardez.

Except for a serious threat of water making its way into the houses in a village in Assonora, by and large most places in Bardez remained incident-free.

A few instances of tree falling and wall collapsing were reported from some areas in the taluka.

However, several villages had to go without power. Aldona and Assagao faced the brunt of power failure and interruptions.

The Mapusa fire station received calls pertaining to falling of trees in Chapora and Vagator in the wee hours of Friday. As the day progressed, the fire station received another six such calls, sources in the fire department informed.

Similarly, a bhendi tree fell on high-tension wires and blocked the road in Canca, which was subsequently cleared.

Part of a wall of an old house collapsed and a huge boulder came rolling down on the wall of a house in Revora.

In both the incidents there was no harm to human life.

Life in Mapusa city was quite normal with no incidents of inundation reported from any part of the city.
