The Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao on Thursday issued non-bailable warrant for former Goa Cricket Association president, Dayanand Narvekar, and his brother-in-law Eknath Naik in the Ticketgate scandal.
When the case came up for hearing before the court on Thursday, Narvekar and his lawyer were conspicuous by their absence. Eknath was also not found present in the court room. Taking cognizance of the absence of the duo and their lawyers, the Judicial Magistrate ordered issuance of non-bailable warrant against the duo and adjourned the matter to next Thursday.
While Narvekar had in the past got an exemption from the court, what prompted the Judge to issue the NBW was the fact that even his lawyer was found to be absent
The court was scheduled to examine an witness in the case at Thursday's hearing, but the same had to be adjourned on account of the absence of the Narvekar and his brother-in-law.
