Public welfare part of MLA’s job: Tivim MLA

In an effort to reach out to the constituents, the local Tivim MLA, Kiran Kandolkar along with Tivim Vikas Manch and the BJP organized a free eye check-up and cataract detection camp at Colvale Salkar Hall, Tivim.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman of the Goa State Horticulture Corporation and Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar said the camp was part of social responsibility towards the welfare of the people.
“Once elected, the job of the MLA is not only to conceive and implement projects and construct roads and provide other amenities, but we also have the responsibility towards the welfare of the people and taking initiatives in sports, cultural, social, etc, is part of our job,” Kandolkar said.
He said in future, efforts will be made to cover larger section of the society during such activities.
Over 500 people from Tivim benefited from the camp and 465 spectacles were given free to those who needed them in addition to free medicines. Besides 39 cataract operations were also carried out in Vision Hospital, Mapusa.
The eye camp covered all the eight panchayats in the constituency.
Jyothi Kinelkar, OHC officer, Binani Glass Fibres Pvt Ltd, reiterated the company’s firm commitment in promoting social cause in its locality.
Binani Glass Fibres Pvt Ltd, Colvale partly sponsored the eye camp as part of its CSR responsibility.
Prakash Halarnkar, HR and Vital Narvekar, of the Finance department of Binani Glass Fibres Pvt Ltd were also present.
A large section of local residents and other social activists were also present on the occasion.
