The alert residents stopped consuming the tap water after it started emitting foul odour. According to an official in the know, since water does not run in the pipeline round the clock, contaminated water found its way because of pressure.A resident Sujana Alwe told The Goan that the residents had to stop consumption of tap water because of contamination. “Though the problem occurred around four days ago, the PWD officials came only today to plug the seepage. We had to depend on mineral water for more than four days,” she said.Alve said the problem could be overcome if PWD provides round the clock water supply. She urged ward councillor Angelis Pereira to take up the issue with the PWD.PWD Assistant Engineer, Vijai Kudchadkar, told The Goan that the department officials are attending to the work on priority to ensure that the pipeline leakage is plugged immediately and the residents get relief.
