Goa is set to be under King Momo’s rule for the next four days as Carnival festivities kick off in Panaji from Saturday.
The Department of Tourism has chalked out the schedule of the Carnival 2024 festival. The annual saga in Panaji will begin at 3.30 pm, on February 9, at the hands of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and others.
The Carnival float parades began on Thursday (February 9) at Porvorim with its curtain raiser event from IHM to Acdil School. On the following day, Saturday (February 10), the celebrations at Panaji will begin from Patto Bridge to Campal Ground. On Sunday (February 11), the festivities will be at Margao starting from Holy Spirit Church to Margao Municipal Council Square. On Monday (February 12), Vasco celebrations will begin from St Andrew’s Junction (Swatantra Path) to Joshi Chowk. On February 13, Mapusa jubilations will start from Mapusa Court to Mapusa Bus Stand. On February 13, the festivities will be at Morjim revelry from HDFC Bank Madhalemaz Madrem to Ajoba Temple Ashwem.

It is a great opportunity to witness when the streets of Goa come alive with colour, music, and dance, showcasing the rich tapestry of our heritage. The Department of Tourism encourages everyone to immerse themselves fully in the festivities, to dance to the rhythms of our music, and to create cherished memories with friends and family,” stated Suneel Anchipaka (IAS), Director of Tourism.
The Carnival theme song titled ‘Carnival in Goa-2024 (Amcho Goycho Carnaval)’ was unveiled on day one. This vibrant anthem falls under the genre of Latin Samba, promising to infuse the festivities with infectious rhythms and joyful melodies. The song is performed by Lavina Soares and Friends Band, ensuring a vibrant and authentic representation of Goan culture and music.
