Pernem body accused govt of harassment over night parties

The Pernem Swabhimani Organisation (PSO) on Monday accused the government of registering offences against those opposing night parties, allegedly involved in sound pollution and other anti-social activities.
Addressing a news conference at Pernem, the PSO members levelled allegations against the government for its failure to curb night parties on the beaches and at clubs along the coast of Pernem taluka.
PSO president Devendra Prabhudessai said the locals have had to face a lot of problems due to sound pollution caused by night parties.
“The locals have repeatedly requested the PSO to raise its voice in the matter. Hence, acting on their concerns, we along with the locals, media and members of sound pollution monitoring board have raised our voices against the night parties,” he said.
“But the government has dragged us to court by registering an offence against us,” added Prabhudessai.
Adv Prasad Shahapurkar said the sound pollution monitoring board first thoroughly checks the sound polluted area and then files a complaint.
Uday Nagvekar, Rohidas Arolkar, Uday Vaigankar, Rajan Satelkar and others were present for the news conference.
