Goa Police has stepped up efforts to maintain security in Calangute, particularly in the coastal belt, following recent incidents of violence.

To ensure no untoward incidents occur, police have identified several hotspots in the area for special patrolling and have increased coordination with local business owners, especially club and restaurant operators.

North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal (IPS) held a detailed meeting with major club and restaurant owners, particularly those in Tito’s Lane, where a violent attack took place two days ago.

Porvorim DySP Vishwesh Karpe joined SP Kaushal in the discussions, which focused on the security challenges faced by businesses in the area.

Kaushal announced that police will work closely with establishments to prevent disturbances.

Club and restaurant owners have been instructed to immediately contact law enforcement if any issues arise, rather than taking matters into their own hands.

Establishments have also been reminded of their obligation to comply with noise pollution laws, which prohibit loud music after

10 pm.

“We are coordinating more effectively to ensure no incidents take place. Establishment owners have been advised to secure their premises and avoid taking the law into their own hands,” said Kaushal.

Kaushal emphasised that any altercation or chaos should be reported to Calangute police immediately, ensuring that appropriate legal action will be taken against offenders.

He reiterated that no violations of noise pollution rules will be tolerated, and all establishment owners have agreed to cooperate with the police.

Special patrolling and ‘naka bandis’ will be conducted at identified hotspots in Calangute, with additional police and IRB personnel deployed to enhance security.

Kaushal expressed optimism that the coordinated efforts will contribute to a safer and more enjoyable tourist season.

“We are at the start of the tourist season, and we aim to make it safer and better than last year. Our goal is to implement tourist-friendly policing so visitors can enjoy a peaceful stay in Goa,” Kaushal added.

Special patrolling drive held
