Dona Paula, under Section 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of IPC for allegedly forging a bill covering expenses of a field trip of students of Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (ACSIR).These trips are undertaken by NIO on regular basis at an interval of a month or two, the police informed. Registering a complaint after almost four years after the incident, the complainant Dr S W A Naqvi, Director of NIO, stated that in May 2012 the accused allegedly prepared forged bill of Rs 1.44 lakh to cover expenses related to a field trip of students of ACSIR instead of Rs 35,000 with dishonest intention. He then produced the same before NIO authority as genuine, thereby attempting to cheat CSIR NIO Authority, reads the complaint.PSI Arun Gawas Desai is investigating the matter further.
