With traffic at the Comba subway thrown out of gear every time the Comba subway is inundated with water during monsoon, Additional Collector, Y B Tawde along representatives of Konkan Railway Corporation, Water Resources department and the PWD, Roads inspected the subway and issued directions to the authorities to ensure that traffic is not disrupted at the spot.
Tawde told the PWD to shift the electrical fitting of the water pump on the Vidya Vikas Mandal side as the PRO of the educational institute Manoj Hede has volunteered to operate the pump early morning so that water from the subway is drained out before the commencement of the schools.
It is learnt that Hede offered assistance to the PWD since the pump operator engaged by the department many a time report late for duty, throwing traffic out of gear at the subway. “I have accepted the suggestion from Hede to shift the electrical fitting of the water pump on VVM side so that volunteers of the institute can operate the pump early morning,” Tawde told The Goan.
Meanwhile, Tawde along with officials of various agencies inspected a number of traffic bottleneck points and issued instructions to the concerned authorities to streamline the system.

The South Goa Sessions Court on Thursday adjourned hearing of the appeal in the Majorda casino gambling assault case to July 20.
When the appeal filed by the complaint Capt Gerald Fernandes and the State came up for hearing before Additional Sessions Judge Sherin Paul, Mathew Diniz was conspicuous by his absence, while former RDA Minister, Mickky Pacheco was represented by his lawyer, Adv Srikant Nayak. Capt Gerald was represented by Adv Winnie Coutinho.
The complainant had preferred an appeal against the order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Margao, who had discharged both Mickky Pacheco and Mathew Diniz from the case.
The complaint was filed by then general manager of Majorda-based Casino Treasures, Gerald Fernandes as he accused Diniz of pushing him against the wall and restraining him by holding his throat. Fernandes also claimed the duo had also threatened to kill him. The police said that initially Diniz and Pacheco had an altercation with the casino gaming staff over the betting limits and rates

Case of threat filed at Margao

MARGAO: The Margao police has registered a case against a group of persons for issuing threats to Adv Rajiv Gomes at the Civil and Criminal court building.
The police has booked a case against the persons under section 143 and 506 of the IPC.
In his complaint, Adv Gomes had alleged that around 100 persons had assembled at the court building on June 10, evening and told him to withdraw from the case or else will be treated as their enemy.
Margao PI C L Patil said the police are investigating into the complaint, adding that the case of intimidation and issuing threats have been registered against unknown persons.
