Protestors warn of morcha at CM’s residence if IIT project not moved

VALPOI
Maintaining that locals of Guleli would not cooperate with the State government in setting up the IIT project at Shel-Melauli, protestors warned that a morcha would be staged outside the residence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant if the project is not moved out of Melauli.

A large number of protestors took part in a protest rally on Thursday, which began from the Shivaji Chowk and passed through various parts of Valpoi town, as agitators warned that their campaign would not end till the State government shifts the project from the proposed area.

In a memorandum later submitted to the Sattari Deputy Collector's office, the agitators alleged there had been manipulation in the land documents for the proposed site of the IIT.

Speaking to reporters, Shankar Naik said action should be taken against those responsible for manipulation in the documents.

The anti-IIT protestors claimed that several agitations are taking place in Goa, but the State government does not care about these agitations.
