Receptionist stabbed to death in Candolim

A 30-year-old Kolkata native was stabbed to death early Thursday morning in a hotel in Candolim. In a swift action, Calangute Police managed to arrest the accused within hours of the murder.

The accused, Manjit Tomar (24) of Haryana was known to the deceased, George Raju Mandal, as both were earlier working together in one of the hotels in the coastal belt, police sources said.   
The accused who had a limp on his right foot was often the butt of joke of the deceased. The accused had also borrowed some money from the deceased, sources informed.   
On Thursday at around 2.15 am, the accused entered into a hotel at Candolim Ximer, where the deceased worked as a receptionist, and allegedly stabbed him on his left side of the neck and managed to escape.   
Since it was early morning, there was skeletal staff in the hotel lobby. The security who saw the receptionist bleeding informed the manager who then rushed him to the Candolim PHC, where he was declared dead. Calangute Police who was informed later rushed to the site and conducted the panchanama.
The CCTV footage provided vital clues to the police who in the wee hours of Thursday managed to nab the accused in Calangute. The accused was arrested for murder under Section 302 of IPC.
