VASCO
Salkar was addressing a gathering after launching the work to hotmix internal Vasco roads in the presence of MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, Vice Chairperson Amey Chopdekar, Councillors Shami Salkar, Girish Borker and other locals.
Salkar said there was good coordination between him and Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, which finally led to handing over the MPA ground to the GCA for development.
"Vasco is slowly taking shape in the form of development and we can see that the Vasco Railway Station is undergoing upgradation and expansion. We have started work on the fish market complex, the Maimollem lake is being restored and we have also plans to start the delayed and much-awaited Chief Officer’s Bungalow and Baina Power House project. Work on the MMC renovated building is almost complete and we may inaugurate the new building by March," said Salkar.
"Most projects were stuck and pending and finally, Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane has given us a free hand while Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has given us financial approvals to clear long-pending projects.”
“Regarding the improvement of sports infrastructure in Vasco, the GCA will develop the MPA Grounds, we are also renovating and improving the ground at Bhute Bhat and a Sports City is planned in the open ground near Tanya Hotel. We are trying to expedite sports infrastructure through the sports department as the National Games are also fast approaching," said Salkar.
MMC Councillor Shami Salkar said work on the internal road in the city was pending for long.
"We are also glad that underground cabling is taken up in Vasco. We are also taking up works to lay a sewerage connection in the city jurisdiction,” she said.
