Several roads were flooded and trees were uprooted in many places in Sattari as heavy rains lashed the taluka on Friday.
Traffic was disrupted for over an hour after a large tree came crashing down on a road at Dhamse-Guleli at about 2 pm. The Valpoi fire service later cleared the tree from the road.
The main road in front of the forest department office was flooded, disrupting the traffic along the route. This stretch of road has been frequently facing a problem of flooding and following persistent demands from locals, the Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) had taken some measures to resolve the issue, but there has been no permanent solution.
According to information, roads were flooded in Thane, Nagargao, Savarde, Honda, Keri and Morlem.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised after authorities have failed to prune or chop trees which have been lying precariously. Locals fear that many trees could come crashing down with heavy rains in the taluka.
