Luizinho Faleiro’s dream project, the Davorlim cemetery, may soon see the light of the day after South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 50 lakh from his MPLAD scheme for the project.
Both Sardinha and Luizinho along with Davorlim Priest Fr Domingo Norohna and Our Lady of Rosary chapel committee members were closeted at the South Goa district Collectorate with officials before the project received the sanction.
Sardinha later told the media that the cemetery project will be tendered within the next 7-8 days.
Faleiro said the MP has been kind enough in sanctioning the funds for the project which should become a reality within the next few months. “In Davorlim, the Our Lady of Rosary chapel will soon be upgraded to a Church, but we had a problem of the cemetery. We had taken up the matter with other agencies, including the GSIDC, but funds constraints delayed the project”, Faleiro said.
