Less than a week after the sarpanch survived the no-confidence motion, Curtorim Sarpanch Rupesh
Naik along with the entire 7-member ruling Curtorim body called on BJP leaders on Monday with a plea to help the panchayat body to usher in the development of the
village.
Led by Sarpanch Rupesh Naik, the ruling group called on the BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar and South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar in Panaji on Monday, days after the BJP top brass bailed out the sarpanch in a no-confidence motion.
The group also called on BJP leader Rajendra Arlekar apparently to thank the leadership for their support and assistance in defeating the no-confidence motion.
The sarpanch told The Goan that the delegation only impressed upon the BJP leaders to take up development work in Curtorim village, which is represented by Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco in the Legislative Assembly.
He replied in the negative when asked whether the BJP leaders have insisted that they embrace the ruling party, with the sarpanch saying that the ruling party leaders only inquired about the development projects that are intended to be taken up in the village by the panchayat.
"The panchayat body will sit and discuss about the projects that would be proposed to the government for implementation," said Rupesh adding that the delegation would again call on the BJP leadership, including Chief minister Manohar Parrikar with a list of development works for Curtorim village.
