Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with party leaders invoked the blessings of Margao’s presiding deity, Lord Dambab for the success of the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa rally scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Margao KTC bus stand on Tuesday noon.
The Chief Minister along with party leaders, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, former MLA Damu Naik, ex-MP Narendra Sawaikar and party functionaries descended at the Lord Damodar Temple at the Linga, near the Nehru stadium on Monday evening.
After taking a final review of the arrangements put in place for tomorrow’s mega rally, the Chief Minister told media that the stage is set for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa rally.
“We all visited the Lord Damodar Temple at Linga near the Nehru stadium to seek blessings of the Presiding deity for the success of the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa rally. “It’s a tradition in Margao that people seek blessing of Lord Damodar before any programme or function. We have all come to the Lord Dambab Linga to invoke his blessing for the success of the rally”, he said.
Briefing on the programmes lined up on Tuesday, Sawant said the Prime Minister will launch the centrally-funded projects such as the NIT, Cuncolim, National water sports project and the State-funded Cacora water management plant. Besides, he said the PM will lay the foundation stone for the Water treatment plant at Xelpem, Selaulim besides the ropeway project linking Panjim and Reis Magos.
Sawant further said the PM will distribute sanction letters to the 12 beneficiaries of various government schemes and will also unveil schemes for the people. “More than 50,000 people are expected to participate in the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa rally at Margao on Tuesday”, he asserted.
The Chief Minister said he would present a report card on the development projects executed and commissioned in Goa during the last 10 years by the double engine BJP government.
When a scribe pointed out to the Chief Minister that PM’s visit to Goa has ushered in the infrastructure development of the city, Sawant quipped “let us all get back Modi at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls for further development of the State and the country”.
Saying that the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa rally has created a festive atmosphere in Margao and Fatorda, he said the Prime Minister is expected to descended at the rally between 2.30 pm to 2.45 pm on Tuesday to address the crowd.
