MARGAO
Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik has strongly condemned the Goa BJP leaders conspiracy, to change the course of history, by making an anti-national attempt, to give respectability to the name of Nathuram Godse by facilitating and organising the release of a book on the life of killer of Mahatma Gandhi, in Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
He said one of the key agenda of NDA government is to show to the world that Nathuram Godse was a great patriot and it is only Congress party that branded him as murderer. “When some attempt was made in North India, a year back, to build a temple in the name of Godse, BJP, indirectly, blessed the move and, the Prime Minister, did not utter a word. One of the objective of the New Education Policy is to imbibe in the minds of children virtues of the ideology that Godse followed. Until recently, the BJP leaders refused to even garland the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and it is only now, to clinch to power, they are using the name of Gandhiji, by showing the picture spectacles that Gandhiji used, in their advertisements. People of Goa have bitter memories that during the BJP government, led by the then chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who is presently the Defence Minister, Parrikar dared to issue a notification to cancel the October 2 holiday, which, he subsequently withdrew on account of public pressure," he said.
Naik said it is the duty of the Governor not to permit government premises, namely Ravindra Bhavan, situated at Margao, to give direction to the State government, not to permit government premises, to praise the killer of the Father of the Nation.
