The exhibition, organised by the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship from July 15 to 17, featured a dedicated pavilion by the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) and the Office of the State PwD Commissioner. The display brought together educational institutions and organisations working with persons with disabilities to exhibit products, assistive technologies and vocational skills.
State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Secretary Taha Haaziq said the initiative reflected the State government's vision of creating an inclusive ecosystem where persons with disabilities can contribute to Goa's social and economic development through skill development and employment.
Haaziq, who has 100 per cent visual impairment, said inclusion must go beyond policy and ensure equal opportunities for persons with disabilities to learn, participate and succeed with dignity.
Among the participants, the National Association for the Blind (NAB), Goa State Branch, showcased assistive devices for persons with visual impairment and highlighted its computer training, inclusive education and rehabilitation programmes.
The Sanjay Centre for Special Education exhibited handcrafted Shadu clay Ganesh idols prepared by 13 students with the support of four teachers.
Officials said the exhibition aimed to create greater public awareness of the abilities of PwDs, encourage support for products made by them and strengthen efforts towards inclusive development, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods across the State.
