The wholesale fish market reopened in the wee hours of Wednesday, but minus the fish cutters as three cutters and two fish sellers had tested positive for COVID last week.
A fleet of vehicles of inter-state fish traders lined up to enter the wholesale fish market shortly after midnight before the market was opened at around 4 in the morning.
Social distancing, however, was once again a far cry in the market, with crowds of fish wholesalers and retailers conducting brisk activity since morning, once again throwing up questions whether the wholesale fish market can maintain the social distancing norms given the very nature of the business activity.
The SGPDA had last week issued a notice to the Margao wholesale fish market Association to show cause why legal action should not be initiated for violating the social distancing norms and for not using the hand sanitizers in the market.
