Staff of the office of Administrator of Comunidades, South zone has received a diktat from the Administrator against going to the media on the condition of the crumbling building or other administrative matters -- either maintain “absolute secrecy” and “integrity” or risk disciplinary action including an FIR at the police
station.
While the Administrator, Paresh Fal Desai issued the memo after a staff member reportedly spoke about the office records and the condition of the building, the Comunidade employees believe that the directions have been issued apparently to silence them from airing their grievances over the continuous delay in the payment of their salaries.
In the memorandum, Paresh Fal Desai has stated that it has come to his notice that the staff of the Administrator of Comunidades of South Goa are giving statements to the media regarding the condition of the comunidade building of the Administrator and preservation of old records.
Terming that the statements made by the staff tantamount to violation of CCS conduct rules and the concerned staff is liable for criminal action, the Administrator has directed the staff members to maintain absolute secrecy and integrity of office records.
The warning read as follows: “In case of any violation of CCS conduct rules is noticed, then disciplinary action will be initiated against them and also an FIR will be lodged at the police
station”, the memorandum warned.
Comunidade employees in private said the Administrator’s memorandum is aimed at silencing.
They have alleged that this is being done to silence them from airing their grievances pertaining to the non-payment as well as delayed payments of salaries.
“We had gone to the media in the past over the delay in the payment of our salaries for many months. Why will we go to the media if the Administrator takes steps to clear salaries on time like other government employees?, asked an employee, saying the Administrator was trying to gag the staff with memorandum. If the salaries were paid on time this would not have happened, the employee said.
