Accusing Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar of seeking to impose Family Raj, the Canacona Congress has said the people in Poinguinim will witness a straight fight between those greedy for power and the people’s choice of candidate.
During this Panchayat election, the people of Poinguinim are witnessing attempts to impose a Family Raj in our taluka for the first time,” said Canacona Congress Block president Prahlay Bhagat.
“After realising that the post of sarpanch in Poinguinim is reserved for woman, Tawadkar fielded his wife, Savita, from Ward 9 (Amone). He has conveniently failed to utter a single word about Family Raj which he often shouted against the Congress Party.”
Incidentally, in her candid acceptance after filling her nomination from Ward 9 of Poinguinim, Savita admitted she had filed her nomination in a last minute decision after the sarpanch’s post in Poinguinim was reserved for woman.
She further confessed that even though her husband, Ramesh Tawadkar, had been successfully getting his supported candidate elected in the past, Amone ward (Ward 9) had not been developed as expected.
Savita said she is fighting this election to develop the ward with the help of her husband and MLA Ramesh Tawadkar.
“We applaud Savita Tawadkar for speaking the truth which exposed her husband only, who even after getting elected four times as MLA from Canacona, has failed to develop Canacona properly,” said Bhagat.
He claimed that voters of Amone would give a big jolt to the dreams of Ramesh Tawadkar as a tough tussle is presently going on for Ward IX between Anandu Dhaikar, who is supported by Congress, and Savita Tawadkar.
Incidentally, Poinguinim Ward 9 has 3 contestants, Anandu Dhaikar of Amone, Rasika Velip, of Shishewal (a neighbouring locality) and Savita Tawadkar, a native of Amone, but residing at Chaudi-Canacona.
