A high-level meeting chaired by South Goa District Collector Egna Cleetus, IAS, following directions from the Central Adoption Resource Authority, stressed the need to streamline the adoption process, ensure timely disposal of cases, and reduce delays.
The meeting was attended by the chairperson and members of the Child Welfare Committee. Detailed discussions were held on improving coordination among key stakeholders, including the Specialised Adoption Agency (Matruchhaya), District Child Protection Unit, Child Development Project Officer, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer, to ensure cases are processed efficiently in line with established guidelines.
The directions issued by the Central Adoption Resource Authority were reiterated, especially the need for regular quarterly reviews by district magistrates, quicker declaration of children as legally free for adoption, and strict adherence to timelines set under adoption regulations.
