The incident took place shortly after some actors in the tiatr were depicted as Lamanis with the names of some locals from Kharewaddo. Speaking to The Goan, Ravindra Bhavan Chairman Shekar Khadapkar said: “Though I was not at the Ravindra Bhavan on Sunday, a local involved in the ruckus informed that the tiatr had used the names of a local woman and agent from Kharewaddo in very bad taste.” “According to the local from Kharewaddo, the tiatr portrayed that the Lamanis were getting married to locals from Kharewaddo and that their children were making Portuguese passports and migrating to Europe.” “The local further informed me that the director had used the names of one woman and man from Kharewaddo and had projected them in a very bad light. The furious woman and man rushed on the stage and manhandled the artistes,” Khadapkar added. Khadapkar, however, clarified that no one had come forward to file a complaint with the committee regarding the incident. “However, if I come to know of any such controversial portrayal in a tiatr staged outside Vasco, I will not allow it to be staged at Baina Ravindra Bhavan,” warned Khadapkar. “Such controversies can damage the Ravindra Bhavan property and to avoid law and order situation, the committee will not allow tiatrs that hurt public sentiments, which can later turn into law and order problem,”
