SANGUEM
Residents of Tarimol ward in Sanguem municipality have threatened an agitation if GSIDC authorities fail to make provision for a road from their ward to the link road connecting the bridge under construction at Bendwada-Sanguem.
The aggrieved residents on Thursday questioned the officers of the contractor on whether a provision had been made for residents at Tarimol after the construction of the parallel bridge at Bendwada.
Residents have alleged that the contractor is in the process of closing the road proceeding to Tarimol to pave the way for the construction of the link road to the bridge.
A villager, Constancio Mascarenhas, informed that the GSIDC which has floated the tender for the construction of the parallel bridge, has failed to consider the existing road proceeding to Tarimol.
“As a result, there is no provision for any road access to connect residents from Tarimol to the main road. For those residing at Tarimol, Sanguem town is barely around 1.5 kms and if the existing road is closed, residents will have to take a detour which will increase the distance to 4-5 kms,” said Mascarenhas.
The residents have asked the contractor to resolve their road issue before any further work of the access road is undertaken towards Tarimol side of the bridge.
Incidentally, work on to construct a parallel bridge at Dando is going on for last seven years with no clear cut date as of now as to when the work will be completed.
