Harping on the need to bring planned development in Goa, Cabinet Advisory Committee member and TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai on Friday said that progress was the need of the hour and people should not simply oppose everything.
“We need to progress. There is need for planned development. If we go on saying we don’t want this and we don’t want that, then we will always remain backward. This should not happen,” said Sardessai.
The TCP minister was speaking after inaugurating a new generator on the occasion of Lairai zatra (festival) at Shirgao, Assonora.
Stating that government was bringing in new laws, he said the central government has now planned to reduce the coastal regulation zone from 200 metres to 50 metres to give boost to tourism in Goa.
“The central government is concerned about Goa. CRZ has been reduced from 200 metres to 50 metres. Centre has taken this step to take Goa tourism forward,” he said.
Sardessai further said that he expected the central government will come out with some solution on the mining imbroglio. “We are hoping the central government will take adequate steps on the mining issue and give relief to the mining dependents. Just like tourism, they need to give relief to mining areas too. And the relief should be progressive and dynamic,” the TCP minister said. Deputy Speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, who donated the generator to the Lairai Devasthan, said thousands of people from Goa and outside visit the temple because they have faith in Lairai devi.
“On this auspicious day, I wish all the people of Goa and especially pray for the good health of our chief minister. I pray that the CM may get well and comeback very soon.”
