Tolu elected panch of Gaondongrim

CANACONA: Tolu Padkar was elected as the new panch of Indrawada Ward of Gaondongrim Panchayat on Monday.
In the by-election on Sunday, Padkar defeated his nearest rival by 8 votes in the triangular contest in Gaondongrim Panchayat.
Padkar polled 145 votes, 8 votes more than his nearest rival Anand Gaonkar (137), while the third contestant Zilu Gaonkar could garner 86 votes.
According to sources, 369 votes were polled out of the eligible 410, while one vote was found invalid during the counting.
Padkar, who is closely associated with Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, immediately met the Canacona MLA at his residence.
