PANAJI: PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavlikar on Monday said he will make a formal announcement of the government's decision on diversion of traffic at Cortalim on Tuesday.
Dhavlikar, who on Sunday had told The Goan that the government would take a final decision on Monday, said it will formally be announced on Tuesday.
For weeks the Goa government has been grappling with the issue of having to divert traffic on the National Highway-66 (formerly NH-17) at the Cortalim junction to enable Dilip Buildcon close a 3.2-kilometre stretch to embark on the next phase of construction work on the eight-lane Zuari Bridge and its approaches.
After exploring at least three options, including the original one wherein traffic from Panjim to Margao was to be diverted through Chicalim with a 22-km detour, the group of ministers comprising Dhavlikar, Vijai Sardessai and Mauvin Godinho apart from Cortalim MLA, Alina Saldanha were to pick the final option on Monday morning.
