The Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Express struck a cow which strayed onto the railway tracks near Pernem and its engine developed a snag, leading to a delay by about an hour on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the train had left from Nizamuddin and was en route to Ernakulam, when a cow strayed on the rail tracks and got hit by the train at about 6 pm.
The engine developed a snag and the train was held up for about an hour, till a replacement engine was brought to the site and the train later resumed its journey.
