“The truck owners are eagerly waiting for mining activities to resume in full swing. Though mining activities have resumed in the State to a limited extent, it has not been beneficial to us,” SGPTOA President Prakash Raut Dessai told The Goan.
“Some truck owners have received letters from the banks, requesting them to clear outstanding dues before March 31,” said Dessai.
“The State government should finalize ore transportation rate by consulting all authorities and stakeholders concerned. Those who have opted for OTS scheme of the government are at ease, but the government should help other truckers to clear their pending loans,” Dessai added.
SGPTOA Treasurer Cajetan Fernandes opined that government should take a holistic view of the condition of truck owners affected by the mining ban, during their \'Ghar Chalo Abhiyan\'.
“Local people are complaining about dust pollution, traffic congestion, vehicular accidents, etc, though only partial mining activities have started. The government should solve the mining bypass issue too, which is an important issue,” said Fernandes.
