PANAJI
The Opposition Congress on Monday advised Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to walk through the streets of the capital city to review the ‘Smart City’ projects to experience the sub-standard work and corruption involved.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in the city, Congress media cell chief, Amarnath Panjikar claimed credit for the party in raising issues related to the execution of ‘Smart City’ projects, which he said forced Puri to come on a review visit to the State.
Panjikar advised the BJP leader to have a ‘Padyatra’ in Panaji to “know the reality” instead of holding review meetings in air-conditioned hotel rooms.
“We have come to know that Union Minister for Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has come to take a review of Smart City projects, as we exposed the scams and mismanagement. I hope that he will not only sit in air-conditioned rooms and take meetings, instead will come out and have ‘Padyatra’ in Panaji city to take real review,” Panjikar said.
Panjikar was flanked by General Secretary Vijya Bhike, Elvis Gomes, North Goa District President Virendra Shirodkar and Panaji Women Block President Lavinia Dcosta.
“We are happy that he has come to take a review and will do something to lessen the sufferings of people,” Panjikar said.
